I’m in a bit of an AI mood at the moment, just digging around to see what people are doing with neural nets. Here’s a great video or a robot learning to walk.

What I find fascinating is that to begin with the robot has no idea about its body shape, it needs to learn for itself that, suppose, sending a current down wire 1 causes it to rotate about its x axis at a certain rate but that wire 2 causes it to lurch forward in the z direction. etc.

Once it has figured out how its limbs are arranged it can use that model to develop a gait to allow it to walk.

What gets me is how lifelike and creepy the thing is. No one taught this thing to walk, it taught itself.
